Keuco Fittings Now WRAS Approved
KEUCO are pleased to announce a selection of water fittings from across its many bathroom collections including IXMO, Edition 90, Edition 11 & Edition 400 have now gained WRAS approval which certifies that these products have been thoroughly tested to demonstrate they are of suitable quality and standard against the requirements of the UK Water Fittings Regulations and Scottish Byelaws.
With this certification, all related products will receive a full product certificate number registration and listing on the official WRAS approved product list.
What is WRAS?
The Water Regulations Approval Scheme (WRAS) is an independent UK certification body for plumbing products and materials, helping business and consumers choose compliant products that keep water safe.
The WRAS exists to promote and ensure compliance with the Water Supply (Water Fittings Regulations) in England and Wales, and the equivalent Water Byelaws in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The UK Water Regulations
The Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 promoting the efficient use of water within premises are important for public health, safeguarding water supplies and promoting the efficient use of water within premises across the UK.
The regulations set legal requirements for the design, installation, operation and maintenance of water fittings, systems and appliances, specifically in order to prevent the contamination of drinking water as well as preventing misuse, waste undue consumption and erroneous measurement (Reg 3. (2))
Where do they apply?
The regulations apply in all premises where water is supplied by a water company – from the point that the water enters the property (boundary) to the water being used through a plumbing system or water appliance.
Who has to comply?
Within the regulations, responsibility by way of legal duty falls to all users, owners or occupiers and anyone who is installing plumbing equipment, water fittings and appliances.
Water companies are duty-bound to enforce the laws and inspect new or existing installations to ensure compliance.
